JOSÉ Protasio RIZAL Mercado y Alonso Realonda (June 19, 1861 – December 30, 1896)

He was a Filipino nationalist and reformist and the most prominent advocate for reform in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era. He was the inspiration and thus wrongly implicated as the leader of the Katipunan Revolution, and that led to his execution on December 30, 1896, now celebrated as Rizal Day. (Read: Jose Rizal's Contribution)

As a political figure, José Rizal was the founder of La Liga Filipina, a civic organization that subsequently gave birth to the Katipunan. He was a proponent of achieving Philippine self-government peacefully through institutional reform rather than through violent revolution, and would only support "violent means" as a last resort. (Wikipedia)

ANDRÉS BONIFACIO y de Castro (30 November 1863 – 10 May 1897)

He was a Filipino nationalist and revolutionary. He is often called "the father of the Philippine Revolution". Bonifacio was a founder and later Supremo ("supreme leader") of the Katipunan movement which sought the independence of the Philippines from Spanish colonial rule and started the Philippine Revolution.

He is considered a de facto national hero of the Philippines, and is also considered by some Filipino historians to be the first President, but he is not officially recognized as such. (Wikipedia)

EMILIO AGUINALDO y Famy (22 March 1869 – 6 February 1964)

He was a Filipino general, politician, and independence leader. He had an instrumental role during the Philippines' revolution against Spain, and the subsequent Philippine–American War or War of Philippine Independence that resisted American occupation ... (continue reading)

Aguinaldo became the Philippines' first president. He was also the youngest (at age 28) to have become the country's president, the longest-lived former president (having survived to age 94) and the president to have outlived the most number of successors. (Wikipedia)

I agree that Dr.Jose Rizal must be our national hero, because of his wisdom in different fields as well as his courage to fight religious mislead.

Yes, I agree with you. There's no other national hero but Rizal.

I agree, He is a versatile individual through the mind. His love for his country and his observations of spanish rule impassioned him to speak of justice. He was peaceful man and used the power of the pen to express himself, and to fought Spaniards. His intelligent, courage and belief inspired people. The book he wrote that inspired change to Filipinos is "Noli Me Tangere" (Touch Me Not). I love reading this book. Its about the life of Filipinos during Spaniards colonization, all the things that the Filipinos experienced in their cruel hands.

I don't think Dr.Jose P. Rizal was worthy to be considered as our national hero . Wether a hero or not the fact is he inspired million of people.

Dr. Jose P. Rizal is a perfect person of self sacrifice though. He sacrifices his love life and a quiet life to gather knowledge around the world that would be helpful in a struggle for reforms in our country. He translates famous literacy works into Filipino for his countrymen to see and labors to ensure a fair perspective about his country aboard. His uses his own fortune, time and effort to his countrymen. That's why for me he is deserving as our national hero. No doubt for that. Dr. Jose P. Rizal will remain as the heart of the Philippine revolution and the Philippine national Hero. And I am very Proud Of that as a Filipino. <3

Rizal used his brains. Bonifacio used his mighty with a bolo. As the saying goes, the "Pen is mightier than a sword."

for me it shuold be jose rizal beacuse he fight the right of pilipino he wants us to be free but he dont want everbody to get hurt so that he use her book to fight spanish...

For me, Dr. Jose Rizal deserve to be our national hero, for he truly shows the real characteristics of being the one... He is intelligent and brave enough to fight for our dear country. His patriotism and undying love for our country shows every Filipino how should we be for our country.

I think Bonifacio should be our national hero because as a poor man he understands what a normal indio felt rather than rizal who was an educated illustrado. According to some books rizal's only wish is the Philippines to be a province of Spain. Bonifacio wants the Philippines to be free.

For me, Dr. Jose P. Rizal should be the National Hero, for its great patriotism in our country. for writing novels against spaniards that influence every Filipino citizen to fight and awakens every heart to become brave. Its not merely his intelligence or not even his good personality to be the national hero but rather his undying love for his native land and his belief the potential of every Filipino citizen to conquer this injustices by the colonizers. He serve as a good influencer to everyone that unity should be reign above all. Lastly, he quoted "Pen is mightier than sword" .

I choose Dr. Jose Rizal because,he fight for us to be free in Spanish Colonial Era.And lastly he died for us to free in the hand of the Spanish Colonial Era.

I also agree with you on some point of my life. Andres was the supreme of the Katipunan, he led the people who died to fight for our country. One thing that's bothering me however is his motivation. Andres got his motivation from Rizal. Andres was a part of Rizal's league called La Liga Filipina. Rizal was the one who strengthened Bonifacio will. However we still cannot forget the fact that without Bonifacio, independence is not possible but the cause for this cause is Rizal.

In my opinion , I think it is more of a violence. If u want belongingness(not a word), you can find where you belong to. Fraternities will make u feel like u belong, but guess what? That was the only perk of being in a fraternity. And yes that makes sense why some people say that it's belongingness... But it will hurt you, and won't make u focus on your study. And it's danger, will cause trouble and will also make u a trouble maker.. You can just find where you really belong, like friendship! ^_^

I choose Dr.Jose P.Rizal, because he fight for our Religion and he is very brave.

still DR. Jose P. Rizal.... because i admired his braveness in exposing the cruelty of the spaniards..... he really showed his love to us...

For me Dr. Jose Rizal is our national hero because he died for our freedom of our country. He is good and humble. He used his intelligence, talents and skills in a more peaceful way rather than the aggressive way.

( and because Rizal possessed some inner qualities inherent in men of courage and conviction , and of extreme patriotism . His love for his country went beyond the usual expression of patriotism . His, was the special concern that he manifested for his country and countrymen . His NOLI ME TANGERE and his EL FILIBUSTERISMO were masterpieces of literature which roused uor people into action for freedom and independence . He wrote on and on , first wanting reforms ; then not getting those reforms , he became a revolutionary. Rizal will live on forever because he shall live in the heart of every Filipino who loves his home and country . )

I choose Dr. Jose Rizal because from the beginning of the story up to now, everyone speak of his name. He is very popular from the old once and the young once. In our school from elementary up to college, Jose Rizal known as our National Hero. He fought in a peaceful way by writing a book but because of this, we got our freedom during Spanish Era and he died for the sake of our freedom.

Yes, Rizal's writings represent our situation and because of his writings our country men became aware how bad our current situation are, also he's given a special attention as a hero by America during their Administration because he represent peaceful advocacy. That's why he was chosen as the national hero but My vote is for Bonifacio because Bonifacio's the one that translated Rizal's writings to be understandable by Filipinos, He develops it and transform them into practice. Bonifacio mobilized thousands of Filipino's in a revolution that ended Spanish regime and caused us to celebrate Independence day.

I agree na si Rizal national hero rather than Bonifacio and Emilio, because: 1.mas popular sya 2.base on accomplishment mas madami nagawa si Rizal , its simply "the pen is mightier than the sword. 3.doctor si rizal he save lives 4.idol ni bonifacio si Rizal. ska si Emilio after nya maging president bumalik sya s pagiging magsasaka, wala improvement sa buhay.

The national hero for me is Rizal.

I agree because.. Heroism is not only measured by the number of people that a person killed in a war.. so even if Dr. Jose Rizal did not fight using a sword.. instead, through his works, he was the one who opened up the minds of the Filipino people about what's happening to our country.

It's because he was brave not with the use of violence but with the use of his pen. He was one of the first people who taught of a non-violent revolution.. which may have saved the lives of many people back then.

Actually, these three would be deserving to be called as national heroes, but since i only have to pick one, I would choose Rizal. It was because he already knew what would happen to him but still he released his literary works "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo" which did not just ignited revolution but also sentenced his death.

Personally. I think both of them have to be kasi nothing would have happened without the written works of rizal and the physical help of the other two.. there's nothing that says we can only have one national hero. All of them are heroes and have done great things for a nation state that didn't even exist back then. Rizal's words of wisdom were needed so was the works of bonifacio and and aguinaldo needed to get the public to do something and unionize the people to revolt.

I chose Andres Bonifacio among the three. Why? Simply because I believe that Dr. Jose Rizal was a big big drawing back then. He used to tell people about what was happening just to inform them, not to save them. And giving information is different from including yourself in the picture. I consider Jose Rizal as a quidnunc here. The point is, there were a lot of ways to show that he truly cared for Filipino people. Many concerned citizens also did exactly what he has done. HOWEVER, the question is... why do those people never reached the qualifications to become the #1 national hero? Basically, Dr. Jose Rizal got the position because Americans told us that he should and must be.Let's admit it... We, Filipinos are undeniably "YES" men. Why I didnt choose Emilio Aguinaldo? Because he was a gold-digger. That's why latter presidents have issues of corruption. Emilio Aguinaldo started it. He sold Philippines for 20 million dollars, as I remember. Treaty of Paris explains everything. He left the Philippines just to enjoy that $20million and lived in Hong Kong for good. That's too selfish, right? That was too immoral, wasn't it? So, the last option would be Andres Bonifacio. Most of us know that he was a dumbhead. He really was, actually. He fought with his pride and sword without thinking the possibility that the contrary have advanced weapons. He sacrificed his men, just to comply with his ego and pride and whatsoever. But... For me as a person, he's too serious about it. Of course he managed to offer his life not only his men's lives. He never gave up. Even though his wife was kidnapped and raped by the Japanese, he afforded to swallow the pain he has encountered. Japanese did that to fall him off. But they never succeeded. Because he has his advocacy. He didn't think of his family and his own good. Because he knew that his purpose was to free people from Japanese hands. And for me, that was too much of being a great man. -Jenichelle F. Odrial

Jose Rizal should be our Philippine National Hero, as we all know he is also called "THE FIRST FILIPINO". Other heroes fight only for their own areas but Dr.Jose Rizal fight for all the Philippines. He really LOVE his country so much that he is ready to offer his life.Even though he doesn't want to have a bloody fight he use to fight by writing to the enemies he use his wisdom to win the battle.

Dr. Jose Rizal because he fought the Spanish regime without using violence. He inspired the people through writing novels and poems and it made the Filipinos stronger and smarter. He loved the nation where he belongs truly even though it will lead him to his death.

I think Andres Bonifacio should be the national hero because he fight the real fight and does not stand around doing nothing.

I think Andres Bonifacio should be the national hero because he fight the real fight and does not stand around doing nothing.

Dr. Jose Rizal should still be the Philippine National Hero because he aspire and struggle for the nation's freedom in a silent but powerful way. He used his writings to open the eyes of the Filipinos. He has shown his great love to his country and countrymen when he dedicated his life without hesitation. He used his own fortune, time and effort to care for his countrymen.

I agree that Dr. Jose Rizal should be the Philippine National Hero because he has been brave enough to fight for the liberation of our nation.

All quotable heroes are being recognized by the public due to their magnificence and their contributions to our country. Among Dr. Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio and Emilio Aguinaldo, I think JOSÉ Protasio RIZAL Mercado y Alonso Realonda should really deserved to be the Philippine's national hero in any angle you look.

I don't agree that Dr. Jose Rizal should be the Philippine National Hero. Among the three, I chose Andres Bonifacio to be the Philippine National Hero because he has more passion, dedication and price of sacrifice. He courageously fought the Spaniards in the battlefield.

Jose Rizal. because he is considered as the pride of Philippines.

Jose Rizal. because he is considered as the pride of Philippines.

Rizal

I would say Dr. JOSE RIZAL, he was an intelligent and brave man. Rizal is a first to unite the filipino nation into a compact body based on common interest and mutual protection. There are sacrifices he made for our freedom even by just writing it but powerful way. Rizal called the Philippine his Fatherland that's why he is my Philippine national Hero.

Among Rizal, Bonifacio, and Aguinaldo, I agree that Dr. Jose Rizal should still be the Philippine National Hero because he inspired many Filipinos through his works and writings. He faced his death with dignity.
