JOSÉ Protasio RIZAL Mercado y Alonso Realonda (June 19, 1861 – December 30, 1896)

He was a Filipino nationalist and reformist and the most prominent advocate for reform in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era. He was the inspiration and thus wrongly implicated as the leader of the Katipunan Revolution, and that led to his execution on December 30, 1896, now celebrated as Rizal Day. (Read: Jose Rizal's Contribution)

As a political figure, José Rizal was the founder of La Liga Filipina, a civic organization that subsequently gave birth to the Katipunan. He was a proponent of achieving Philippine self-government peacefully through institutional reform rather than through violent revolution, and would only support "violent means" as a last resort. (Wikipedia)

ANDRÉS BONIFACIO y de Castro (30 November 1863 – 10 May 1897)

He was a Filipino nationalist and revolutionary. He is often called "the father of the Philippine Revolution". Bonifacio was a founder and later Supremo ("supreme leader") of the Katipunan movement which sought the independence of the Philippines from Spanish colonial rule and started the Philippine Revolution.

He is considered a de facto national hero of the Philippines, and is also considered by some Filipino historians to be the first President, but he is not officially recognized as such. (Wikipedia)

EMILIO AGUINALDO y Famy (22 March 1869 – 6 February 1964)

He was a Filipino general, politician, and independence leader. He had an instrumental role during the Philippines' revolution against Spain, and the subsequent Philippine–American War or War of Philippine Independence that resisted American occupation ... (continue reading)

Aguinaldo became the Philippines' first president. He was also the youngest (at age 28) to have become the country's president, the longest-lived former president (having survived to age 94) and the president to have outlived the most number of successors. (Wikipedia)

Rizal was considered the National Hero because he opted for a non violence reform in the government. Instead he used his writings to open the eyes of the Filipinos. He dedicated his life for his countrymen without hesitation.

Jose Rizal is no doubt to be the philippine national hero because there would be no Bonifacio and Aguinaldo if Rizal didnt awakened much their nationalism. Aside from that Rizal was not only known in the philippines but in the whole wide world for his greatness and being a nationalistic. For his entire life, he did not think for his own but rather GOD, FAMILY AND THE SOCIETY. he was also a good influence for the society and his literally works really shows how he had so much concerned with the society.

i agree with you Ms. Madelo because In my opinion, rizal should be our national hero instead of others. well if we talk about national hero issue we should not be only on the things that they have done for our country but the things they have done for the sake of the people and the whole country. the national her should be the one with the greatest influence. for this reason, we believe that rizal is the worthy one, since he himslf influenced bonifacio to aact up a shero should exude an aura which is definetely hard to avoid and be influencs by. this is what jose rizal was all about. rizal was considered the national hero because he opted for a non violence reform in the government. Instead he used his writings to open the eyes of the Filipinos. He dedicated his life for his countrymen without hesitation.

Hi, i agree with you too that its no doubt to be Rizal because he did a lot more than what others did. and i think that's enough why Rizal became one.

For me, it should be Jose Rizal because we all know he was the one who open the mind of every Filipino to be Nationalistic. And in every action he made, he always do his best for the sake of his countrymen and he played an important role in our country. He’s a very good example and an inspiration to us, most specially to students because of his intelligence and his nonviolence reform to the government.

I disagree with you, sa tingin ko kase dapat si Bonifacio ung maging hero ng Philippines kasi siya naman ung nagtakda nung ggwin hindi naman si Rizal, oo sabhin natin galing sa kanya ung idea and ung nationalism ni bonifacio, pero dba siya naman ung nagtapos, so why dont we consider too bonifacio.

i think it would be better if its Bonifacio, he fought for the nation to be one, not like rizal who only wished to be part of spain, he is the one who shows dignity that filipinos can fight for their own freedom, not by just sitting and waiting for grace to happen

Why would they doubt about Dr. Jose Rizal? He is a great hero with the great love for our country and for all the Filipinos. We have our freedom because of his knowledge and wisdom. He died because of his heroic attitude.

I also agreed to what you have said, but it's not only that we use force or violence of action in able to fight foes to become a hero and it is not that killing someone's life to protect our country. A hero should embody strong faith, courage and not only using bare hands with force but bare hands with pen, just like what Jose Rizal did.

i agree that Rizal is worthy of the title, but also is Bonifacio worthy of the title because words without deeds will be merely nothing but a symbol written a paper. if it is possible, the two of them should be the national hero.

that's what Jose Rizal did too, he fought with his pen courageously that even though he has many options to be free and he has many people who will help him to be free, but then he refuse. But isn't it that when we are a changed we will be free in a way.

It is not only in action that we become hero, through writings too, and it is Rizal has more courage and willingness for the changes of our country.

It is not only in action that we become hero, through writings too, and it is Rizal has more courage and willingness for the changes of our country.

For me, I will still choose Rizal over the two. What Philippines history tells us is that Rizal is the one who started the advocate for reforms, he is also the one who stood as the model and inspiration for many heroes such as Bonifacio and Aguinaldo. Aside from that, even though he is already dead, his literary works and life story gives an inspiration to the youth whom he refers to as the "Pag-asa ng Bayan".

That' right, Rizal is still the one. For many years, his life story never fails to prove his worth to become the Philippines National Hero that's why his hard work and sacrifices deserves the title allotted to him.

I disagree with you. I believe that Bonifacio is the one worthy of that position because he is the one who fight for our freedom by the use of revolution. He knows that reforms might not work for the Spanish Government so he uses violence to force the colonizers to give us freedom.

for me i think Andres Bonifacio should be a National Hero of our country because he showed to us that he is willing to die for our country. He deserves that title because of his bravery we receive freedom from the Spaniards which takes more than 300 years.

Yes indeed! Rizal will and shall remain to be our National Hero. His contribution in building up "NATIONALISM" within us is really a great help to us and to future generations.... Although controversies are arising against him, these won't change the fact that Rizal had made a difference. A difference that changed lives of every Filipino and will continue to change more lives in the future...

On my own opinion, Dr. Jose P. Rizal should be the national hero. Why? Because of his eagerness to fight, to stand for what is right, for the freedom of his country and countrymen. He sacrificed himself to gain the independence. Until his last breath, he was shouting justice for the Philippines. Nevertheless, he didn't consider using violence, instead he used his ink and paper to fight for his enemies. With his intelligence, dignity, and integrity, we can say, that Philippines is now independent.

For me, Jose Rizal should be our National Hero. His skills and writings opened the eyes of the filipino. He was capable of revolutionizing the way the Filipino thought. He was able to stir people's inner spirit using his writings. Rizal is the one who awaken our consciousness and bring us back to reality that 'this is our country' and then stirring a revolution to freedom. He died for our country for the sake and freedom of the filipinos.

I agree .. for me Jose Rizal is a hero because he is an amazing person in and out, selfless, loyal, and true to what he is fighting for. He lead the most peaceful, powerful, and silent revolution through his works and education. He believed that we will only be free if we were educated and united. He used his intelligence and talents in helping the Filipino people to achieve reforms and obtain freedom and never gave up on his advocacy till he died.

For me he should be the national hero because he is mentally and physically smart. He has a kind heart and he knows what is good for our country. Because for me he is the most excellent. He give all his best in a good way through using his skills and natural intelligence to open the mind of our countrymen. For me no one can beat the contribution of Dr. Jose Rizal in our country and in filipino's heart.

I disagree, for me ANDRES BONIFACIO should be our National Hero. Because he was so brave, he is determine to be set free from the slavery of other country. He is ready to die, just to have a freedom.

I disagree. He is brave, he has one mind, he is courageous and willing to offer his life. He has no fear till his death. He should be recognized in our country because of his works and contributions in our country.

I agree to you Ms. Jessa. Dr. Jose Rizal should be our national hero. He is a good example of a good hero. Using his wisdom for the freedom of our country. He is full of skill and talents that a hero and a leader should have.

I choose Dr. Jose Rizal because he had the very exceptional love for our country. He sacrifice his opportunity to have a normal and peaceful life just to have the rights and freedom of our country. Among of them three he is the one who always actively contribute himself for the welfare of his countrymen. His life depicts the true Malayan or Filipino life, full of values and inspiration that influence the other Filipinos that causes him to become the heart of the revolution.

Rizal should be our 'Philippine national hero' because he is the one who open the eyes of the Filipinos at that time when we were under the Spaniards. He was the one who made the other heroes realize what is the right thing to do and I believe that without Rizal, there will also be no Andres Bonifacio and Emilio Aguinaldo. He started everything with his novels and fought for our freedom in an educated way, I admire Rizal not only because he had the courage to stand up for our country, but also on how he was raised by his family and how he kept his moral values until his last breath.

Hi Marjorie, It is indeed a fact that they are all great heroes. However in my opinion Andres Bonifacio should have been our National hero.He might not be as genious, well off and educated as Jose Rizal, nor as clever and young as Emilio Aguinaldo to recognize his deeds, but he had given also his own life for his countrymen and fought on his own way.He has his own characteristic to distiguish among them with true love for his country. He stand for whatever he knew what was correct during that time, for whatever limited resources they had. We must not forget great contributions of great people such as Andres Bonifacio atapang atao nd atakbo..

I agree!

for me andres bonifacio because he fight and defend to have freedom in our country.

I disagree..., for me ANDRES BONIFACIO should be our National Hero. Because he was so brave, he is determine to be set free from the slavery of other country. He is ready to die, just to have a freedom.

I agree with you! Jose Rizal should be national hero because he doesn't used force or violence. Instead he used his writings to open the eyes of the Filipinos. He dedicated his life for his countrymen without hesitation.

Sorry but I have to disagree with you. Bonifacio should be the national hero because he wanted the Philippines to become an independent country.

Sorry but I have to Disagree with you. For me, I will choose Bonifacio Instead, he is the one who fought for the liberation of our country not Rizal, Rizal is just the one who advocates for reforms but we all know that that didn't work well so Bonifacio is the one who suites to become the Philippine National Hero.

hi.Denil Delubio i disagree with that. for me its Jose Rizal because even if he dont use sword, he take risk for the filipino in a non-violent way.

because Rizal was then brought back to the Philippines to face charges of rebellion due to his reported association with the revolutionary movement.

Rizal was considered the National Hero because he opted for a non violence reform in the government. Instead he used his writings to open the eyes of the Filipinos. He dedicated his life for his countrymen without hesitation.

Jose Rizal became the Philippine national hero because he fought for freedom in a silent but powerful way. He expressed his love for the Philippines through his novels, essays and articles rather than through the use of force or aggression.
