He was a Filipino nationalist and reformist and the most prominent advocate for reform in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era. As a political figure, José Rizal was the founder of La Liga Filipina, a civic organization that subsequently gave birth to the Katipunan. He was a proponent of achieving Philippine self-government peacefully through institutional reform rather than through violent revolution, and would only support "violent means" as a last resort. ANDRÉS BONIFACIO y de Castro (30 November 1863 – 10 May 1897)

He was a Filipino nationalist and revolutionary. He is often called "the father of the Philippine Revolution". Bonifacio was a founder and later Supremo ("supreme leader") of the Katipunan movement which sought the independence of the Philippines from Spanish colonial rule and started the Philippine Revolution.

He is considered a de facto national hero of the Philippines, and is also considered by some Filipino historians to be the first President, but he is not officially recognized as such. (Wikipedia)

EMILIO AGUINALDO y Famy (22 March 1869 – 6 February 1964)

Aguinaldo became the Philippines' first president. He was also the youngest (at age 28) to have become the country's president, the longest-lived former president (having survived to age 94) and the president to have outlived the most number of successors. (Wikipedia)

Jose Rizal is considered national hero of the Philippines, and should always be, for he is the one who ignited the hearts of the Filipinos and uplifted their consciousness on the wrong doings of the Spaniards. through his novels he fought for liberty. these novels boost the spirits of the Filipinos that lead them to fight for their freedom and end the ruling of the Spaniards.

Jose Rizal deserves to be our national hero, because of his helpfulness and hard work for the Philippines, and he is the reason why Filipinos earned their freedom from the Spaniards.

I believe Jose Rizal deserves the recognition as the national hero for he showed patriotism, strength, compassion and wisdom undeniably and remarkably. He demonstrated bravery through showering the Filipinos with awareness about the Spanish cruelty in his literary works. He fought for our freedom through his pen which served as his mighty sword. His movement empowered the nation and molded the determination of the Filipinos to fight for freedom.

Jose Rizal proved that he could fight through his writings without risking the lives of his countrymen. With his writings, he was able to express the needs of the Filipino people and his country. Thus, Dr. Jose Rizal only though the better for his country and countrymen. By his diplomatic approaches and peaceful propaganda, he was able to fight against the Spaniards and fight for us. Truly, Dr. Jose Rizal deserves to be our National Hero knowing that diplomacy should always be prioritize before confrontation and violence.

I would say Jose Rizal, he was very intelligent and brave man. Even though he did not fight through aggressive manner he wrote novels to encouraged and awakened the minds of every Filipino people to stand up against Spaniards. Jose Rizal is a true hero, he fight with all his heart and he loved our country more than to his life.

I agree with you, Rizal is considered the national hero because he was capable of revolutionizing the way the Filipino thought. He was able to stir people's inner spirit when he was about to make any speech.

I agree with you, our national hero should be Dr. Jose Rizal because he fought for freedom in a silent but powerful way. He expressed his love for the Philippines through his novels, essays. etc

It should be Rizal because he even sacrifice his very own life, his loved ones, and he awakened us Filipinos through his writings regarding the Spanish Era. His works and extraordinary intelligence can never be replaced by any of our other heroes though they have the same goal of making our country free and independent.

I think it should be Dr. Jose Rizal because he proved that not all things should be done aggressively. He used his novels to encouraged his countrymen to fight for their rights against Spaniards and enlightened them of what are happening to the country. His unique way of fighting for his country cannot be replaced by anyone. I can say that Rizal deserved to be the Philippine National Hero.

For me, it is no doubt that Dr. Jose Rizal is still my national hero. His patriotic deeds and great love to our nation was unbelievable. He did not advocate bloody revolution because he was a man who believe in peace and order. Only his pen and thought caused the awakening of Philippine nationality. His deeds are clearly showing that by means of peaceful undertaking something unbelievable could happen.

I agree, Why? Siguro mas may mga nagawa sya keysa kay Rizal at si andres din ang nagpalaya satin sa mga spainards.

I think it should be Dr. Jose Rizal because for me he is wiser than other leaders. Rizal able to show that how Filipinos can bring change without violence, instead he used his writings to open the eyes of the Filipinos and he also dedicated his life for the sake of his countrymen without hesitation.

I still choose Dr. Jose Rizal as my national hero because he has a great ability to lead people. we all know about his capabilities and great characteristics. He was a novel person.intelligent and loveable to his countrymen. Dr. Jose Rizal has an integrity and proactive. he was a great leader.!

If I were you ill choose bonifacio because Bonifacio almost got rid of the Spaniards in our country. The KKK made great help to our country. Rizal just wrote books and novels and did nothing but just to hide in Europe.

Still Rizal.im agree with you, Dr. Jose Rizal is not only a man of courage, a man of success, and a man of potentials but more of outstanding person. Through his novel, and other literary, he express his nationalistic. Due to him, Philippine achieved the thing he wanted most, ang magising ang mga pilipino sa katotohanan and Jose Rizal got it.

Disagree, I choose Rizal he published Noli Me Tangere. His gripping and controversial tale of Spanish colonial injustice awakened national consciousness among Filipinos and contributed to the rise of the Filipino independence movement.

We all know that After the death of Jose Rizal, Filipino been motivated to fight for the independence of the pilipino. But Andress Bonifacio was the one who courageously fight for it. Even Jose Rizal has a novel that serves a tool for the Pilipino people to be awakened, let us see the other people who willing to give their life for our country, and this id not only Dr, Jose Rizal but also Andress Bonifacio..

i think andres bonifacio should be known as the Phil. National hero... because he has the gutts to fight for the independence, though rizal did not used violence still, andres bonifacio is brave enough and have his one word one act system. He take actions secretly and give his life just for us Filipinos to be free under spaniards and americans.

It should be Dr Jose Rizal.Nobility and Dignity What set Rizal apart from the others were his methods. Instead of relaying on the sword, he relied on the might of the pen. Using this method he was able to produce novels and poems that touched the Filipino’s soul. Without resorting to violence, he made Filipinos realize the oppression they were going through under the Spaniards. In his poems he also made it clear how important it was to love one’s country. It was a noble approach and something unique. Instead of raising arms, he embedded in the Filipino an idea. Unlike warriors, an idea cannot be killed. It is this reason why Jose Rizal is the national hero of the Philippines.(http://www.whyguides.com/why-is-rizal-considered-the-national-hero-in-the-philippines.html)

They actually complement each other. Without Rizal, Bonifacio would not have been able to increase the number of Katipuneros, or motivate them to fight. It was because of Rizal's death that more Filipinos were angered by the Spanish masters, and joined the Katipunan. On the other hand, Bonifacio was the mover, without whom there would have been no revolution. But weighing their impact on history, the admiration of the majority of Filipinos, and international admiration for Rizal, as well as his genius, I think Rizal would eventually emerge as the true national hero (http://randomthoughts-pinas.blogspot.com/)

Disagree, the national hero is Jose rizal, we must first rewind and go back to our history. For what is now happening in the present is the result of our past.

I agree, I think Jose Rizal because he sacrifices his own dreams just to fight for the freedom of the Filipinos against the Spaniards. And Rizal didn’t have, like what you said a hesitation and didn’t care what will happen to him on writing his popular novels that shows the inequality between Spaniards and indios.

For me it’s Andres Bonifacio because he is the one who strive and struggle his life to depend the people and the country. Andres is a man of action than words that willing to die just to Fight for our country’s independence. he is the person who also seen more courage to fight from the Spanish so for me it should be Andres bonifacio.

Among those men who should have been the National Hero I guess the right question should be "Who among those heroes should be our National Hero?". We are all heroes in our own ways and Andres Bonifacio, Jose Rizal, and Emilio Aguinaldo fought for the freedom of our country and each of them battled in their own ways. Jose Rizal deserved to be our National Hero for he portrays a man full of conviction, brave, and love for his country. He proved that it doesn't have to be harsh by using swords and guns and simply use pen and paper to fought against spaniards slavery. His works truly awakened the minds of the Filipinos and ignited their hearts to fight back who were about to give up that time and one of those readers were Andres Bonifacio and he fought for independence by forming KKK.

Rizal. I agree that Rizal was our National Hero and I think he deserved that. He did not use his strength yet he use his brain to awaken the mind of the Filipinos. He awaken our national consciousness by his literary works. He spearheaded the revolution to gain Philippine independence from the 300-year Spanish rule.

For me, Rizal because he fought for freedom in a silent but powerful way. He expressed his love for the Philippines through his novels, essays and articles rather than through the use of force or aggression. He was a very amazing person at his time. He was humble, fighting for reforms through his writings instead of through a revolution.

I'll choose Bonifacio because he almost got rid of the Spaniards in our country. The KKK made great help to our country. Rizal just wrote books and novels and did nothing but just to hide in Europe.

Jose Rizal should be the Philippine national hero because he himself planned a revolution without violence. He wanted a peaceful site of victory. He had organized having peace without harming any enemies. That's why Jose Rizal is the national hero.

For me Our Phil. National Hero is Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo because he battled his conscience and his humility in order to do what he thinks. Gen. Aguinaldo has done untactful sacrifices for this nation in order to gain its freedom against the foreign invaders.

For me it should be Dr. Jose Rizal. In the first place, he is the considered hero in our country. He used his writings to open our minds and ignite the patriotism of Filipinos towards our country. Instead of using guns & sword, he used his pen to get even with the Spaniards. Through his writings, Filipino people has become of everything that is happening and it then started the revolt against Spaniard.

My reply to Terrano James L. Nieto; I agree to you that Jose Rizal should be the national hero because of the many things he did for our country. He lived his life in a way to free the Philippines from colonists. He is a great man and is to be named as the Philippine national hero.

I disagree to her opinion. For me, Andres Bonifacio is the best nominee as our national hero. He fight for our freedom. He gather our people to join his katipunan who had help many of our people from the hand of Spaniards.

Dr. Jose P. Rizal is still the number one for me. Because he lead the whole Filipino people to fight for our rights in our motherland to the mean Spaniard people and how to fight with the use of mind, pen and paper. He open our eyes to what the Spaniards do to us. So Dr. Jose P. Rizal is the Philippine Hero of all Filipinos.

I agree for your comment that jose rizal our Philippine National Hero because we all know that he fight the Spaniard for our freedom and for his love to our country.

Yes indeed! Rizal will and shall remain to be our National Hero. His contribution in building up "NATIONALISM" within us is really a great help to us and to future generations. He offer his life for the Nation he use his wisdom to fight against the enemy by his writings and not by sword. He know even through his work we can overcome and we can be free.

For me,Dr.Jose Rizal, because I think that a true hero not only means, killing someone's life just to protect your love ones, like what Dr.Jose Rizal's did, he protected the Filipinos by the used of his pen and knowledge, and not by the use of taking someones life.

I agree. He has done amazing things. He has suffered a lot. Without him, may be it would take a little longer before Filipinos realize that they need to stop Spaniards from treating us like slaves.

for me still Dr.Jose Rizal, because he has what it takes to be a true hero of this country and before you called a hero you should have the features that a true hero people looking for. Just what Dr. Jose Rizal did ,rather than imitate others to use violence or force, he choose the peaceful and orderly way to enlighten the heart of his countrymen .So for me Dr Jose Protacio Rizal Mercado y. Alonso.

I still choose Rizal to be our national hero. Being a hero should bring goodness for our country, he fights for our freedom silently and that how should be. He used his knowledge as a weapon to fight, which is to prove others that Filipino are great that they can stand on their own. Rizal shown his love for our country through his writings that awaken Filipinos mind.

Rizal proved that Filipinos are not indios “mangmang”. He made us realized how much we worth. His contributions become one of greatest achievements of our country.

Para sakin si Andres Bonifacio dapat ang Philippine National Hero natin. Ang laki ng hirap nya sa Pilipinas at hindi sya naparangalan ng tama sa kung ano yung nagawa nya. andres ka ngayon..

i would still choose Jose Rizal because of his love to his countrymen. He is able to opened and awakened the minds of the Filipino people to stand against Spaniards with the use of his writings and novels. he also fought peacefully with the use of pen and without risking any life of his countrymen.

I can say that it should be andres bonifacio… Even though he knows that his life will be risky to fight against Spaniards he still not afraid to do so… He was the Father of Revolutionary and Supremo of Katipunan Movement that fight for the independence of our country.

i agree Rizal should still be our hero. kasi sa tingin ko mas maraming nabuksan ang isip dahil sa mga ginawa nya para sa mga Filipino. tinuro din nya ang kahalagahan ng pag-aaral, pagiging maka-diyos at pagmamahal sa kapwa lalo na sa pilipinas.

i believe that Emilio Aguinaldo should be our hero, in the first place siya talaga yung nagbigay ng kalayaan sa Pilipinas. siya rin ang dahilan kung bakit nagkaroon ng sagisag na watawat, pambansang awit at iba pa ang pilipinas upang makilala bilang isang bansa

i agree with you ate, still it should be Rizal ang dame niya din naranasang hirap para lang mamulat yung mga mata o mabuksan ang isip ng mga kababayan niya para lumaban against spaniards. and bukod dun he is a great leader and has the great image of being a hero.

Andres Bonifacio ako. Naniniwala ako na si Bonifacio dapat ang maging national hero. Matalino rin naman sya at mas matapang pa. hinarap nya ang mga sundalong kastila at nagtatag ng KKK.
