Who should be 'the' Philippine National Hero?

Who should be the Philippine National Hero?

IF WE WERE to choose only ONE national hero who is best fitting to be regarded as ‘THE’ Philippine national hero, who would it be among the following? Would it be ...
To see how our MODERN E-Learning Reviewers work, please try this 5-item sample:

JOSÉ Protasio RIZAL Mercado y Alonso Realonda (June 19, 1861 – December 30, 1896)

He was a Filipino nationalist and reformist and the most prominent advocate for reform in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era. He was the inspiration and thus wrongly implicated as the leader of the Katipunan Revolution, and that led to his execution on December 30, 1896, now celebrated as Rizal Day. (Read: Jose Rizal's Contribution)

As a political figure, José Rizal was the founder of La Liga Filipina, a civic organization that subsequently gave birth to the Katipunan. He was a proponent of achieving Philippine self-government peacefully through institutional reform rather than through violent revolution, and would only support "violent means" as a last resort. (Wikipedia)

ANDRÉS BONIFACIO y de Castro (30 November 1863 – 10 May 1897)

He was a Filipino nationalist and revolutionary. He is often called "the father of the Philippine Revolution". Bonifacio was a founder and later Supremo ("supreme leader") of the Katipunan movement which sought the independence of the Philippines from Spanish colonial rule and started the Philippine Revolution.

He is considered a de facto national hero of the Philippines, and is also considered by some Filipino historians to be the first President, but he is not officially recognized as such. (Wikipedia)

EMILIO AGUINALDO y Famy (22 March 1869 – 6 February 1964)

He was a Filipino general, politician, and independence leader. He had an instrumental role during the Philippines' revolution against Spain, and the subsequent Philippine–American War or War of Philippine Independence that resisted American occupation ... (continue reading)

Aguinaldo became the Philippines' first president. He was also the youngest (at age 28) to have become the country's president, the longest-lived former president (having survived to age 94) and the president to have outlived the most number of successors. (Wikipedia)

I agree. Siya na nga ang nakatalagang national hero so there’s no need to question this.

I disagree in your statement. For me, I prefer Andres Bonifacio. He is the one who fought against the Spaniards and founded the Katipunan that lead the battle between Filipino-Spaniards. Willing to give his life for the countrymen.

Because he introduce Filipinos using hes talent like being a genius at the time. He speaks several languages and was very eloquent, he wrote El Filibusterismo and Noli Me Tangere, which paved the way for a Filipino uprising against Spain.

for me, its Jose rizal.. Bcoz he sacrifice his life for our country.. And he fight and stand for our language

I agree with you first of all Dr. Jose Rizal is famous as a Filipino Hero, He wants to get the Freedom trough Peaceful way besides the two characters, Bonifacio and Aguinaldo are both aggressive they want a bloody revolution.

I think it should be andres bonifacio, because he wanted the philippines to become a nation, while rizal, though he had great/good intentions for the filipinos, wanted the philippines to officially be part of spain, sort of a privince and not a separate nation or colony, so i think the title 'national' hero does not really suit him..

for me its bonifacio, because although rizal was the inspiration of bonifacio to fight, sia prin ang gumawa ng paraan para makuha ng pilipinas ang kalayaan which is through sword and gun and he spoke more boldly to spaniards

I would say Bonifacio. No national hero from any other country in the world sprung without putting up a fight. No real independence won without battle fought. Rizal was made hero by the Americans for some reasons; to please the Filipinos that they respect an honored Filipino kind; to impress into the minds of the filipinos that insurrection and revolution is not a virtue; that they are better off believing the benevolent assimilation than aidng the insurgents; prevent rebelious ideas to grow in the minds of the youth. Rizal was made a hero to please the "Ilustrados" not the masses. For if Rizal thinks of the Filipino lot, why does he plan to put up a Filipino school in Japan? Why he wont support Bonifacio's revolution? Because, he cant personally accept that the less educated Bonifacio is the leader. For if it is not so, why did he suggest Antonio Luna to lead the army of the revolution?

i disagree with your opinion i choose bonifacio to be our national hero because he wanted for an ultimate freedom in the philippines. although rizal had an idea about our freedom it is still bonifacio who put it into action and i guess idea without an action means nothing and this says it all.

Rizal because he expressed his love for our country without hesitation. He always think first for his country men than to himself. His life became a great influence to all Filipino. His death became a tragic not because of him there will no Bonifacio and Aguinaldo.

For me, Andres Bonifacio should be our national hero for he fight for the true and complete freedom against the spaniards. Leading the Katipunan (KKK), he gave his life to fight for freedom through swords and guns. His actions set as trigger to attain the freedom of the Philippines.

I disagree. For me, our national hero would still be Dr. Jose Rizal. He awakened and served as an inspiration to his fellow countrymen who revolt against spaniards. Rizal also shows love and passion to his country by helping and serving his countrymen without wishing for anything in exchange on what he have done.

ANDRÉS BONIFACIO y de Castro for me should be the national hero because his main objective of revolution is Independence, he wants to be free on his own territory, he founded the Katipunan movement which sought the independence of the Philippines from Spanish colonial rule and started the Philippine Revolution.compare to Dr. Jose Rizal, though his idea of revolution is peaceful but I think his one objective is not good that still he want to become the Philippines as a part/province of Spain.

For me, I will still choose Rizal over the two. What Philippines history tells us is that Rizal is the one who started the advocate for reforms, he is also the one who stood as the model and inspiration for many heroes such as Bonifacio and Aguinaldo. Aside from that, even though he is already dead, his literary works and life story gives an inspiration to the youth whom he refers to as the "Pag-asa ng Bayan".

Pambansang bayani man, nagkakamali rin. Hahaha.

Who should be the Philippine National Hero? For me, I would say it should be Dr. Jose Rizal, because he is an intelligent man that thought of a way to make Filipinos wake up and face reality to fight for their freedom. He made use of his knowledge and skills and not use violence in the fight against the colonizers. So the hero for me is Dr. Jose Rizal.

For me, Dr. Jose Rizal should be the National Hero of the Philippines because he was the one who awakened the nationalism of the Filipino, to protect and to defend us during Spanish Era even though he know that this thing will cause him to death. He fight with all his heart to awakened those Filipino who are scared and afraid to revolt against Spanish. He created a weapon that gave courage to the Filipino to fight for our freedom. He face his death with no worries and he loved our country more than to his life. That's what I called a HERO.

ANDRES BONOFACIO because even though he doesn't fought with a sword or a gun it doesn't mean that He can't be our National Hero because for me a true hero is the one who inspires the people around you to protect their nation

For me bonifacio because he put into action of what he get from rizal's idea of freedom and he want to separate from the authorities of spain which means he want to have our own goverment.

Para sakin si Dr. Jose Rizal padin. kasi atleast si rizal on his own ung gnawa nia epitome of a martyr compare dun sa dalawa kasi atleast base sa mga alam ko ah halos naging priority nla ung freedom ng bansa pero in the end halos magpatayan lng ung grupo ni aguinaldo at bonifacio in the first place ang contradicting kasi na gusto nila makuha ung kalayaan yet sabik sila dun honor na makukuha nila dun sa gnagawa nila kc if nagfocus cla sa goal nla hnd nla kelangan magtalo db, they should help each other n lng

I agree. Mainly because I prefer Rizal's way of fighting the Spaniards than that of the two. And if it wasn't for his written works, many Filipinos of the 19th century may have ignored the country's burden and remained deaf-mute to their problem.

Dr. Jose P. Rizal should be the national hero for me. He possesses the criteria on how could be a certain individual to be a national hero. He is a Filipino, has high deals and love of country and died for the country as martyr. He was the first Filipino to unite and awakened the Filipino people to peacefully rise for independence. He is a model for being a peacemaker.

It's Dr. Jose Rizal our Philippine National hero because he fought for freedom in our country through his novels and he dedicated his life for our country rather than Andres Bonifacio and Emilio Jacinto.

Sorry but I beg to disagree, it was Bonifacio who deserves as the national hero of the Philippines because he sacrifice his own life for the freedom of the Filipino people,he strives and struggled his own life to depend his fellow countrymen to the Spaniards. Bonifacio is a true hero, because for me, a true hero has a courage and one who inspires people to fight for themselves. Unlike Rizal he use only his pen and and papers.

I totally agree with you Jeffry, Jose Rizal should definitely be our Philippine National Hero, no doubt about it. He uses his pen not his sword, he doesn’t use violence but rather his writings. And he is willing to die for his country.

Ang tunay na hero knows how to influence others. Not just by teaching them how to fight.

I disagree. A true leader, according to Nelson Mandela: "It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership." I believe that Andres Bonifacio must be the National hero because he fought for the country, he inspired a lot of Filipinos and lead his countrymen in times of war and never left their side.

I would say Jose Rizal..He was a prodigy! He was an intelligent and brave man. He emobodied a strong character. Even though Jose Rizal did not fight through fists or in an aggresive manner like Bonifacio who literally fought the Spaniards, Rizal wrote pamphlets and encouraged fellow Filipinos to stand up against the Spaniards.

Sorry but I have to disagree with you because I firmly believe that Andres Bonifacio is the one who suits the most to become our National Hero for the reason that he is the one who fight for our revolution. Yes, we can say that Dr. Jose Rizal is the one who influenced him to fight for our freedom but to think that Andres Bonifacio is the one who shed his blood willingly for our country.

There are many ways to become a national hero. Not necessary a hero that can fly, or a hero that has a power. but a hero that can sacrifice his own life for the sake of his countrymen. For me, Jose Rizal is the best example not because he studied in different country, not because he know how to speak different dialect and languages but because he do his own way of fighting using his words and intelligence and it is become his weapon to awakened people of what is happening in real life.

Andres Bonifacio should be our national hero because Rizal only wants reformation. He wants an equality between the filipinos and spaniards while Andres wants a total separation so that we can get our freedom bacause he believed that we should have total independence and our own government. A government run by Filipinos.

I understand your stand but for me Rizal should be our National hero kasi kung di sya nagsulat laban sa mga spaniards walang magtatangka na mag-aklas ng revolution.
