Just an E-learning Overview

Electronic Learning, also known as E-Learning is one of the tools used in this generation. E-learning is also applied to Business, Medicine, and Education.  In this generation, the internet is one of tools use for learning but it encourages some difficulties.

First, what is E-Learning? According to Derek Stockley in 2013, E-learning is the delivery of a learning, training or education program by electronic means. E-learning involves the use of a computer or electronic device (e.g. a mobile phone) in some way to provide training, educational or learning material. Also the use of CD-ROM and DVD can be used as a learning material for an E-learning.

The two types of E-learning are Asynchronous and Synchronous E-Learning. Asynchronous E-learning is supported by a medium such as email, and discussion board. There is still an interaction of the learner and the teacher even if they are not online at the same time. Synchronous E-learning is supported by a videoconferencing and chat. This is like a traditional learning where the learner and the teacher are online in the same time but in a different environment.

Here are some categories of E-learning:

1. Courses – Many courses and training are offered in E-learning.

2. Informal Learning – is an easy way to learn. You can search almost all things on the internet that is called informal learning.

3. Blended Learning - Is the combination of traditional learning and the E-learning. It is blended in face to face interaction and online learning.

4. Community – society also affects the learning. For some reasons many methods are newly found and contribute in the way people learn.

5. Knowledge Management – E-learning is a big potential for globalization learning. This may help many people to learn and improved their knowledge globally.

6. Learning Network – is a process of evolving and improving of the relationship of people in information and knowledge for the support of each other learning.

As per Optimus sourcing, these are some advantage and disadvantage of E-learning:

Advantages:

1. More Flexible

2. Mobile

3. No travel

4. Lower Cost

5. Tailor it to you

6. Technological Responsibilities

7. Global

Disadvantages:

1. Lack of Control

2. Learning Approach

3. Isolated

4. Technology Issues

5. Computer Competency

As E-learning develop many applications may be incorporated into this. Here are some application of E-learning.

1. In Pre-School, we used DVD, CD-ROM, Laptops and any other e-learning tool for the pre-schoolers to enhance more their knowledge.

2. Using the video conference, chat and other social networks is used in Higher education for them to gather more information and knowledge.

3. Now, many companies and professionals are using e-learning. For Example testing their desire applicants through E-learning.

So as time passes by, Many E-learning tools may be developed. We should use it wisely and use it to improve and enhance our knowledge and capabilities. Let’s innovate and make this world nice and simple.
